Initially I wasn't sure if I should play the show, because I've already played in NYC a lot this year and I didn't think people would want to see me do the same stuff again. Also, I was already scheduled to be on tour with my band in another part of the country. "No, they don't need you to play," Danette told me. "Bass Player wants you to present Stanley Clarke with a Lifetime Achievement Award." "Really? Cancel any gigs we have," I told her."
